The IESC offers year-round orientation activities to help international students meet new friends, get involved in campus life and become familiar with Canadian culture. Our events calendar is also full of opportunities for newly arrived international students to settle in, adjust to life in Canada and at Western, receive support and meet new friends.

Welcome Centre

Welcome Centre

The Welcome centre is located on the 2 nd Floor of the International and Graduate Affairs Building.

Visit our Welcome Centre for new international and exchange students as soon as you arrive on campus! IESC staff and Welcome Team volunteers will answer any questions you may have and will provide you with an International Student Orientation Package and a copy of the International Student Handbook.

International Student Orientation

International Student Orientation is offered three times per year in September, January, and May.

All international and exchange students are encouraged to attend IESC Orientation to learn more about academic values and unwritten rules of the Canadian classroom, dealing with culture shock, navigating the Canadian health care system, and getting settled at Western and in London.

Start Strong

Sessions for undergraduate and graduate international students are offered yearly in September.
START STRONG is an academic series for new and returning international students. Professionals from Western’s Writing Support Centre, Learning Skills Services, and Western Libraries will provide you with the tips and resources you need to be a successful university student.

Information about each Start Strong session can be found on our events calendar. Registration is required.
